This book presents a comprehensive exploration of the extraordinary capabilities of zeolites, making it an indispensable addition to the libraries of materials scientists, chemists, and engineers alike.
In the initial section, the book lays a strong foundation by elucidating the fundamental structural characteristics of zeolites. Through a clear and accessible approach, even non-expert readers can grasp the intricate porous nature of these materials, which underlies their valuable properties. As a result, readers gain insight into the diverse possibilities zeolites offer, making it an ideal starting point for anyone interested in their applications. Subsequent chapters equip readers with the necessary tools for precise zeolite characterization. The final chapters of the book delve into both traditional and innovative applications of zeolites. From biomedical advancements to efficient water and wastewater treatment solutions, the versatility of zeolites becomes apparent. Moreover, the book explores how zeolites have even found utility in the vast expanse of space, demonstrating the far-reaching impact of these materials. The book also focuses on zeolites as smart precursors for functional ceramics, showcasing their role as pioneers in cutting-edge materials and shedding light on the emerging applications of zeolites in catalysis for various chemical processes. Underpinning the entire narrative is a chapter on best practices and methods for characterizing zeolites, which helps to ensure that researchers and professionals can approach their work with precision and reliability, ultimately enhancing the quality of research and applications in this field.
From their structural characteristics to novel applications, this book is a must-read for anyone seeking to understand and harness the immense potential of zeolites. With its academic rigor and practical insights, it stands as a vital resource for those involved in the pursuit of innovative solutions through the power of zeolites.

About the Author
Michele Pansini is a full professor in the fields of chemistry and science and technology of materials. He has made valuable contributions to the science and technology of zeolites, with about one hundred published works in the areas of cation exchange on zeolites, the thermal transformation of cation-exchanged zeolites into ceramics or metal-ceramic nanocomposites, adsorption of polluting substances from the liquid phase on zeolites, and catalysis on zeolites.
Serena Esposito is an associate professor at the Department of Applied Science and Technology at Politecnico di Torino (Italy) since April 16, 2021. Her research activities encompass various topics in the field of materials chemistry, with a particular focus on materials synthesis of functional materials using the sol-gel process. Her role involves coordinating and developing activities related to defining synthesis strategies for preparing new nanostructured materials with tailored physicochemical features. These materials find applications in heterogeneous (photo)catalysis, energy storage and production, environmental remediation, and biomedical applications.
The nanomaterials undergo characterization using several techniques, including thermal analysis, room temperature and high-temperature X-ray powder diffraction, SEM and TEM microscopy, UV-visible-FTIR spectroscopy, N2 adsorption/desorption, as well as TPR-TPO-TPD techniques.
