在明尼苏达州时,我们才二十多岁,虽然在学历上,我们在美国,可以上研究所,但是在对社会的认知上,很多很多事情,因为太年轻,又是大洋彼岸来的,不懂,也因为忙着谋生,没时间去懂、去体验,不懂就算了。然而现在来重新检视,之前看到的种种事情,才发现过去这五十年,我个人从少年,中年到老年,美国的社会,也从保守到极端自由。

当然也有记载些,在台湾长大时儿时的回忆。

作为在台湾长大的,美籍华人,作为大时代中的小人物,我在此书中记载下来,我五十年来目睹之现象,也希望读者也能和我一起品尝异国他乡的甜酸苦辣;是生活的流水账,也是野史/历史。

后来,从2005年到现在,我住在南加州,这里有一百万的华人,由于工作是在房地产方面,我见到了很多新移民,也写下了些感想:大事方面,次贷危机,大麻屋,耐旱花园等经验;小事方面,也尽量提及,希望这些经验和观察,能够对新来乍到的新移民,有一点帮助。

同时,也写些个人参悟到的,好好过日子的方法/想法。希望对人们有些帮助。

居晓玉,原名居维豫,美籍华人作家,台北第一女中、台湾大学化学系毕业,美国德州美以美大学硕士。目前定居于美国加利福尼亚州。

二○○三年,居晓玉和她所创立的生祥歌咏社(Sun Shine Group)得到明尼苏达州艺术局( Minnesota State Art Board)的艺术奖;二○○四年为明尼亚波里斯市红眼剧埸上演的歌剧"Temple Street"创作部份歌曲。

二○○七年以后,作者服务于南加州房地产公司和教学,除了教导房地产知识,也教孩子们唱歌。二○一七年九月在西来大学大礼堂主办《英语唐诗宋词歌唱比赛》;二○一九出版《英语唐诗宋词歌谱》。

You have the right to cancel this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.

Effects of cancellation
