Warped by tragedy. Destroyed by drugs. Redeemed by Christ.
Ben Schmidt had a typical childhood: he rode his bike down country roads, played street hockey with his cousin, and idolized his older brother. At seventeen he graduated a semester early from high school and worked to save up for college.
Life was good, until a tragedy tore his world apart.
Six months later he spent his days huddled in basements, squatting behind blacked out windows. He had turned his back on his family, friends and future in order to numb himself with drugs.
At times shocking, funny and heartbreaking, Ben takes the reader into the belly of the beast, shedding light into the drug-fueled underworld of a small midwestern town. He shares how he scratched his way up to the top, how it all came crashing down, and how no one is beyond the power of Jesus’ love.
