Those Years,Author: Ran Jing,Born in 1982 in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, Ran Jing worked for a long time in the military and Hangzhou Audit System, and later became a freelance writer and founder of a technology enterprise.
In this book, the author draws on his unique perspective to trace the development of China's economy, technology, and culture since the 1990s, and looks forward to future trends based on historical origins. With a global vision, the work integrates multiple dimensions including industrial economy, technological innovation, financial trade, institutional reform, social psychology, humanities narrative, suspense narrative, and business ethics. It connects business landscapes such as e-commerce, stocks, mergers and acquisitions, heavy trucks, port trade, the Spice Road, and the Maritime Silk Road, while interweaving human stories of love, betrayal, growth, and choices.
The book travels across the world: starting from Chaoshan, it moves through Tokyo, Shanghai, Beijing, London, California, Wuhan, Windsor, Singapore, India, Oman, Tanzania, Egypt, Japan, the United Kingdom, Zanzibar, the Cayman Islands, Princeton, and other places. It touches on rich imagery including courtyard houses, imperial palaces, shrines, temples, canals, cemeteries, celadon porcelain, ghosts, caravans, monks, living body research, cryptocurrency, hurricanes, small towns, rental housing, salespersons, and overseas students. With chapter stories as its thread, the book connects emerging markets and developed countries, presenting a panoramic picture of modern commerce, social life, and cultural changes amid the wave of globalization.
The work combines professionalism and readability, presenting the complex global context in an accessible and fluent manner. It depicts the arduous journey of the Maritime Silk Road, the vicissitudes of global trade, the survival struggles of start-ups, and the competition and expansion in cross-border mergers and acquisitions.
