This 53-issue Volume 64 - dating from January and measuring 12.0 x 16.5 inches ? is the complete volume 64 bound into a hard-covered binding - now in rather tattered condition. The black heavy cloth covered binding with the Youth?s Companion impressed into the front panel is now missing the spine binding and the volume is held together by the binding cords across the spine. The front and back panels show extensive wear. Inside - the newspaper issues are in better condition with the issues varying in condition but overall the issues are in at least good condition with some very good. The binding is somewhat detracting. Overall ? considering the binding and the variation in newspaper condition ? this item is in good condition. The pages of this wonderful publication show the full spectrum of condition with some crimping, chipping, paper loss, and folding ? but overall the newspaper issues of this volume stand in good condition. The fascinating articles and striking illustrations, and the advertising make the Youth?s Companion one of the real treasures from American culture of the 19th Century ? with the topics covered in the articles touching on many facets of world exploration and adventure, the natural world, home entertainment, American Indians, arts and crafts, and more. 688 pages.…
