Add to basket"Xi Jinping: A Chronicle of Rise, Control, and Decline" offers a detailed, year-by-year exploration of Xi Jinping’s life and his rise to become China’s paramount leader. From his privileged birth into the Communist elite to his current status as one of the world’s most powerful figures, this book chronicles Xi's ascent, the policies he has implemented, and the far-reaching effects of his leadership on both China’s domestic trajectory and its role on the global stage.
This book is structured chronologically, tracing Xi's life from his birth in 1953, when China was in the midst of intense political transformation, to his consolidation of power in the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). It explores his early struggles during the Cultural Revolution, the political fall of his father, and his later rise through the Party ranks, as well as his eventual ascension to General Secretary in 2012. Each year is examined, providing insights into Xi’s personal milestones and the key historical events shaping his path.
Xi’s Authoritarian Rule: The book examines how Xi consolidated power, breaking away from the collective leadership model of his predecessors. His control over all aspects of Chinese society, including media, education, and the economy, reflects his drive to suppress dissent and centralize authority.
Economic Reforms and Failures: From early economic liberalization to his more recent push for self-reliance, the book analyzes how Xi’s policies shaped China’s economy—both positively and negatively. The contradictions within his reforms are explored, including the tension between state control and market forces, leading to both economic growth and social unrest.
Foreign Policy and Global Ambitions: Through initiatives like the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), military modernization, and efforts to challenge U.S. dominance, Xi has reshaped China’s global relations. The book looks at how Xi’s aggressive foreign policy has led to greater isolation and rising tensions with the West.
The Future of China Under Xi: The book concludes with a speculative look at the future of Xi’s leadership. Will his authoritarian model lead to sustained political stability, or will it result in the collapse of his regime? It explores possible internal challenges, social unrest, and the future of China’s global influence.
This book provides a comprehensive analysis of Xi Jinping’s leadership, offering insights into his rise to power and the policies that have shaped modern China. It explores both the achievements and failures of his rule and considers the long-term consequences of his leadership for China and the world. With a chronological structure, this book provides critical analysis for readers seeking to understand China’s current trajectory and the global shifts shaped by Xi’s policies.
For anyone interested in modern China, Xi Jinping’s leadership, and the geopolitical dynamics of the 21st century, this book is essential reading.
