Paperback. You don't need to quit your day job to become a writer - you need a system that actually works around it. Indie author Keith McCabe spends his days as a court reporter, capturing testimony word-for-word in legal proceedings, and spends his nights and weekends building novels most people would swear take a full-time schedule to write. In The Writing Book, Keith breaks down exactly how he finds the hours, protects his focus, and keeps his discipline intact after a long workday that already demanded all of it. You'll get the same practical approach he uses to turn a demanding career into fuel for his craft instead of an excuse to quit - real scheduling habits, not vague encouragement. If a full-time job has been the reason you haven't started, or the reason you stopped, this is the book that shows you it was never actually the obstacle. This item is printed on demand. Author Keith McCabe offers readers unprecedented access to his writing process. Drawing from his own novels and experiences, McCabe provides practical, step-by-step guidance he used to overcome years of writer’s block to become a self-published novelist. He walks readers through developing ideas, building characters, and overcoming resistance while balancing the demands of a full-time career. McCabe transforms the writing process from something scary and mysterious into something achievable – proving that anyone can turn the dream of authorship into a reality.
McCabe not only provides in-depth analysis of his technique, but he also walks readers through his entire body of work. From the Deb Dawson series to Rabbit King, Director's Cut, Pain Diary, and more, he gives readers unparalleled access to his experience of turning ideas into finished novels. Everything he has learned about writing is crammed into a single package.
No paid courses. No nonsense. Just one book.
And for those in search of a rewarding and stable career, McCabe introduces readers to the world of court reporting, a career that he credits as the foundation that made his writing life possible. Court reporters serve a vital role in the legal system by capturing every word of testimony with precision and integrity. Offering his personal experience in the field, McCabe reveals how court reporting is more than just a job – it’s a meaningful profession for those seeking purpose, job security, and the freedom to pursue their creative ambitions.
Whether you want to learn how to write fiction, or if you're considering a new career path, Keith McCabe gives readers unfiltered access to his life and his techniques so that you can start turning your dreams into a reality.
