Sometimes worries are small. Sometimes they grow so big they seem to fill up your whole body. And sometimes they do not make much sense at all.
Worried Hearts helps young children understand what worry feels like, why it happens, and what they can do when worried thoughts begin to take over. With simple, reassuring language, children learn that feeling worried does not mean they are weak, that they have done something wrong, or that something is wrong with them. Worried Hearts reminds children that Jesus is never surprised or upset by a worried heart. They do not have to hide their fears, find the perfect words, or wait until they feel better before talking to Him. They can come to Jesus exactly as they are.
Most importantly, children are reminded that worry does not mean God is far away.
Through everyday examples and gentle biblical truth, Worried Hearts teaches children to notice when their minds are imagining what might happen instead of noticing what is true right now. Children are encouraged to name their worries, recognize what they are feeling in their bodies, talk with a trusted grown-up, and bring every worry to Jesus - the big ones, the little ones, and even the ones that do not make sense.
Rather than promising children that nothing bad will ever happen or telling them simply not to worry, Worried Hearts helps children build a healthier understanding of fear and uncertainty. Children learn that they can feel worried and still be safe. They can have uncomfortable feelings without allowing those feelings to decide what happens next. And they never have to hide their worried hearts from Jesus.
Created for young children and the grown-ups who love them, Worried Hearts also includes a Parent Connection to help families continue the conversation after the story ends. Parents are given practical ways to respond to worries, help children return to the present, avoid unhelpful reassurance cycles, and encourage healthy coping and prayer.
Because little hearts do not need to be fearless.
They need to know what to do when worry comes.
The book also includes a Parent Connection designed to help grown-ups continue the conversation. Parents are given practical guidance for responding to worry without dismissing a child's feelings, helping children distinguish between what they fear might happen and what is true right now, and encouraging healthy coping, communication, and prayer.
Worried Hearts is part of the Little Hearts Need to Know™ series, created to help young children understand the big things happening inside their little hearts through simple explanations, relatable situations, practical skills, and biblical truth.
Each book gives parents and caregivers a gentle starting place for conversations that are not always easy to have with young children. Rather than avoiding difficult emotions and experiences, the Little Hearts Need to Know™ series helps children put words to what they are experiencing, learn healthy ways to respond, and understand that they are deeply loved by God through it all.
Because little hearts do not need to have everything figured out.
Sometimes they just need someone to help them understand what is happening inside.
