xv+859pp. Foreword by Clifton Fadiman. Pictorial illustrated covers, b/w diagrams, index. With more than sixty works from A - Z, Science and mathematics are to our technically inclined societies what the composition of epic poetry was to the Homeric Greeks. Science has been called the twentieth century's greatest art form, and it is natural to expect that writers will increasingly find inspiration in the grandeur, rigor, and elegance of science. This book will have served its function if its readers find, a few sparks of illumination with which art and science alike serve to brighten our darkening times. Size: Thick Octavo.
