This is an Advance Reading Copy, or ARC (similar to, but not quite the same as an "Uncorrected Proof" or an "Unedited, Uncorrected Page Proof") - a publishing state fast becoming an attractive "collectible", as it precedes the First Edition. "Sounding like an uncensored outtake from vintage Hill Street Blues, this introduction to ex-stripper, ex-cop, Orange County forensic specialist Smokey Brandon is tough, hip, visceral, and lusty enough to make both Wambaugh and Spillane sit up and wince. The case that Smokey leaves her lab to solve: the gunning down of college kid Jerry Dwyer, who sold her coffee every morning at his parents' convenience store." 301 pages. CONDITION: a bright, tight, square, unmarked, uncreased, likely unread copy with negligible shelf-wear. This handsome, collectible copy is now in a clear, protective polypropylene bag.
