Print on Demand. This book is an urgent call to action for the rising generation, drawing on the sacrifices of WWI soldiers to inspire a new age of selflessness. The author argues that the great tragedy of the war was not the bloodshed itself, but the moral decay that led to it. To prevent a repeat of such horrors, the author believes we must restore God to his rightful place in our lives, and live with the understanding that our spiritual existence is just as important as our physical one. Drawing on personal letters and firsthand accounts from the front, the author shows how the horrors of war paradoxically brought many soldiers closer to God and gave them a newfound appreciation for life's simple pleasures. Through numerous real-life examples of sacrifice and resilience, this book makes a powerful case for forging a new path in life, one that places God at the center of our decision-making and leads to a deeper understanding of life's purpose. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

The main object of the writer is to prepare the hearts of his readers for after-war problems, so that the after-war world may be a better world. The sacrifices of our fighting men will, he urges, be useless if the nation resumes the habit of selfishness after the War; what is wanted is a new spirit, like the war-spirit, but bigger and better - what he calls super~ patriotism, when a man is inspired by the spirit, not only of his country, but by that of Christ, in his fight in God's War for the triumph of good over evil. The rebuilding of the Ruins is aptly compared to the history of Nehemiah building and fighting together.
