'One thousand copies only of this edition deluxe of the Works of William Shakespeare have been printed for sale, each of which is numbered.' This being number 395. 4to. (28 cm). Profuse illustrations, some in color. Uniformly custom-bound in full dark blue morocco by Thomas W. Best (Best was a Boston bookseller and at one time a part owner of Harcourt Bindery). 5 raised bands; titles in gilt; gilt lines in spine compartments and both covers; gilt Shakespeare family coat of arms on front covers; gilt dentiled edges; t.e.g. Some light offsetting to a few pages and tissue guards, some rubbing to front hinges but the bindings are firm and strong. From the library of a prominent early-1900s Clevelander with his bookplate. Altogether a very attractive set in very good plus condition with many illustrations. Postage may be extra on this item.
