4to, two volumes, 142 & 280 pp, VG+ in 3/4 leather with four raised bands and gilt titling and ornaments, marbled endpapers (previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown of each volume; occasional, brief soiling throughout, but not obtrusive). Frontis engraved portrait, color illustration to each volume, plus copiously illustrated with hundreds of b&w engravings with plain tissue guards. No date, but mid-late 1800s. A handsome set.
