Item description from seller

2 volumes. Both oversized, bound in full leather. Brown leather with raised cords on the spines, blindstamped borders on the covers. Spines are gold-stamped, but quite dark and most of the decoration is faded. Front cover of the first volume is detached (but present), as are both boards of 3rd volume. 583 pages in Volume 2, which also has a separate title page for the Remarks on Italy. That section is 183 pages. The Tatler section goes up to page 403. The Spectator is the rest. 2 nice, half-page, engravings. Volume 3 is 624 pages of The Spectator, up through Spectator No. 505. Both volumes have 3 bookplates on the inside front covers. All three of them are pasted down over the evidence of an earlier bookplate beneath. Center bookplate has the name Jane Byrche. Above that is an armorial bookplate with the name Rowther. At the bottom, the bookplate of the architect Sir. A. E. Richardson (1880-1964). The name Lord Wensley is handwritten on the inside front cover of Vol 2. Eighteenth century bookplates with women's names on them are always noteworthy. Jane Byrche seems to have been married to Robert Clavering. Text blocks tightly bound and pages well printed with handsome wide margins. Measures just under 10 x 12 inches. This set of Addison's work should have 4 volumes to be complete. Please email with questions or to request photos. Please note  if there is a photograph beside this listing, it was put there by ABE, not by me, so it may not accurately show the book I am selling. Extra shipping will be required for these two large volumes.…
