Stevens 1710-80 was a man of many parts, actor who travelled a lot incl. America, playwright, poet, songwriter [mainly bawdy, comic & satirical ones], but most famous nowadays for his lectures on the head, an immensely popular parody of fashionable physiognomy, purporting to be a lecture on heads and fashions.
