About this Item

Leather bound. 797, 805, 796, 807, 796pp. A masterwork of Western Americana; five thick, extensively researched volumes on the aboriginal peoples of the Americas. From the library of William Slater Brown, with his signature. Brown was the author of a number of works, including THE HEYDAY OF SPIRITUALISM, a popular history of occultism; in the 1920s he was a prominent member of the moveable feast (he is "B" in E. E. Cummings's THE ENORMOUS ROOM). A very interesting provenance! Bound in full calf with black leather labels on backstrips. All edges marbled. Volume one has significant loss to the spine panel; the other volumes are generally in good to very good condition. Howes B87. (Please note that there will be an additional charge for postage to mail these heavy volumes. ). Bookseller Inventory # 13473
