London, Printed for H. Lownes, 1614. Folio (280 x 195 mm). In a contemporary Cambridge mirror-style binding with five raised bands and gilt lettering to spine. "LA" in gilt lettering to both front and back board. Previous owner's name, John Barratt (1693) in contemporary hand to verso of front board. Wear to extremities, with scratches and a few holes to to boards. Head of spine chipped with some loss of leather, upper part of front hinge split. Worm tract to lower margin of first leaves and a few marginal dampstains throughout, first and last leaves browned and and loss of paper in margin. Wanting the engraved title-page and possibly a frontispiece, all separate title-pages present. (12), 1111 pp. Rare folio-edition of Hall's works. Joseph Hall (1574?1656) was a prominent English bishop and satirist. He was especially known for his devotional writings, of which this present work is a fine example.
