Three parts bound into one, forming the popular large collected edition of Abraham Cowley's works. Ninth edition, "now published out of the Author's original copies". Bound together with 'The Second and Third Parts of the Works. The Second Containing what was Written and Published by himself in his Younger Years: Now Reprinted together', the seventh edition, with additions. Separate title pages for the Second and Third parts, the latter of which is dated 1689. ESTC No.R2108 (First Part) Register: [***], a-d4, A-T4, U1, a-q4, A*-R*4, [A2], B-H4 ESTC No.R2177 (Second and Third Parts) Register: a2, [1], a, A2, c, B-H4, (H), I-X4, Y2, A2, a-b4, Aaa (i.e. A)-X4 Numerous errors in pagination, as issued. Register reflects this, as well as sporadical resets in the register for certain works and parts. In a contemporary full tree calf binding with red morocco spine label. With an engraved portrait frontispiece to First Part and Second/Third Part title page. Tipped-in vignette to Second Part title page, with contemporary ink inscription. The popular collected edition of the works of leading 17th century English poet Abraham Cowley, which was published a total of 14 times between 1668 and 1721. Containing an account of his life, followed by his miscellanies, The Mistress, Davideis, Several Discourses by way of Essays, Constantia and Philetus, Sylva, Naufragium Joculare and others. The Third Part containing his verses on herbs, flowers and trees. Loosely inserted is a sheet with a vignette of Cowley's residence at Chertsey, inscribed with his poem "To John Evelyn". Sheet is extracted from William Pickering's 1837 publicatin, presumably 'Prose Works of Abraham Cowley'. Contemporary ink inscription to the front free endpaper, being extracts from Memoirs of John Evelyn published by Wm. Bray in 1819. In a contemporary full tree calf binding with red morocco spine label.Externally, front board is largely held by cords, with rear joint starting, but firm. General rubbing to the extremities and string binding exposed. Internally, generally firmly bound, with front free endpaper disbound but present, with frontispiece working loose at head. Pages are generally bright and clean, with toning more towards the rear leaves. Contemporary ink inscription to the front free endpaper, being extracts from Memoirs of John Evelyn published by Wm. Bray in 1819. Occasional faint contemporary ink marginalia. Closely trimmed, occasionally minorly affecting the text to the lower margin, mostly the signatures and catch words. Good Only.…

Statutory right to withdraw
You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last good or the last lot or piece.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". We will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a withdrawal on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
You shall send back the goods or hand them over to Rooke Books PBFA, Bath, United Kingdom, +44 1225448831, without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you communicate your withdrawal from this contract to us. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before the period of 14 days has expired. You will have to bear the direct cost of returning the goods. You are only liable for any diminished value of the goods resulting from the handling other than what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics and functioning of the goods.
Exceptions to the right of withdrawal
The right of withdrawal does not apply to:
- The delivery of newspapers, journals or magazines with the exception of subscription contracts; and
- The supply of digital content which is not supplied on a tangible medium (e.g. on a CD or DVD) if you accepted when you placed your order that we could start to deliver it, and that you could not withdraw once delivery had started.
