Print on Demand. This book explores the impact of the 1897 Workmens Compensation Act, an act that aimed to provide compensation to working-class citizens injured in their employment. The act provided a vital safety net for workers during a time when workplace accidents were commonplace and often resulted in devastating financial consequences for injured workers and their families. At a time of great economic and social change in British society, the act represented a crucial step in the development of welfare and workers' rights. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.

Owing to the favourable reception given to this book, the First Edition was soon exhausted, and a second one called for. In preparing the present edition for the Press, the book has been thoroughly revised and brought up to date, and includes all the cases decided in the House of Lords and the Court of Appeal, which have been reported prior to October lst, 1901. The Scotch decisions are also included, and several decisions of special interest and importance in County Courts, which, I hope, will add to the usefulness of the book.
In this edition, also, there have been added, in Appendices, specimens of agreements under Schedule II. A form of Notice of Appeal, the Workmen's Compensation Rules, 1900, and full extracts from all the material sections of the Factory Acts.
