Print on Demand. This book chronicles the development of school medical services in England from 1898, focusing on the case study of Bradford. It examines how the program grew from a simple medical inspection system to a comprehensive service providing specialized care for children with physical and mental health needs. The author details the challenges faced by the service, including inadequate funding, lack of personnel, and resistance from some parents and educators. However, he also highlights the positive impact the service has had on the health and well-being of children in Bradford and argues for its continued expansion and improvement. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.

- Education
School feeding means more to the children than the mere receipt of food; it means an additional source of education, more care for the individual child on the part of the teachers who assist at the tables, and it may mean the acquisition by the child of gentle manners, courtesy, and respect. Every mother of a child at school may receive a Copy of recipes for seventeen different, cheap dinners, recipes designed carefully with a view to variety and sufficiency by Dr. Crowley and Miss Cuff, the super intendent of domestic subjects. The mother of any school-child in this great city may thus know what are the best and cheapest meals to provide at home. It really looks as though we were beginning to undermine the bed rock of disease. We shall be well on the way to the happier land when we expend as much care and labour over the conditions of housing as we are now doing over the human habitations. Human beings are very flower like.
