Vol. 1, OLD FRANCE, 1981: 180 pages, 121 plates, 83 text ills.; Very Good+ with a couple of light scuffs in a Very Good dust jacket with light shelf wear, a touch of wear at the edges, and a crease to the front flap. This first volume deals with the French countryside, the disappearing vestiges of "La Vieille France." Vol. 2, THE ART OF OLD PARIS, 1982: 192 pages, 117 plates, 95 text ills.; Fine with a light tap to one tip and what appears to be small spots of glue bleed-through on the back at the hinge in a Fine dust jacket. This volume concentrates on the sites and monuments as well as the little-known corners and oft-overlooked artifacts of the Paris untouched by Haussmann's renovations. Vol. 3, THE ANCIEN REGIME, 1983: 188 pages with one gatefold, 120 plates, 47 text ills.; Near Fine with a touch of rubbing to the lower tips, a hint of scuffing, and a tiny crease at one corner of the gatefold in a Very Good+ dust jacket with a touch of wear at the top edges; there are two thin lines along the back panel where the laminate has bubbled and the laminate has separated from the dj about half the length of the front spine-fold. Atget's photos of the monuments of the Ancien Regime with images made at the chateaux and parks of the French kings and noble families; principally, Versailles, Saint-Cloud, and Sceaux's formal gardens. Vol. 4, MODERN TIMES, 1985: 186 pages, 117 plates, 88 text ills.; Fine with a hint of scuffs in a Fine dust jacket. The theme of this last volume of the series is contemporary Paris--street scenes, shops, artisans at their trades, domestic interiors, carnivals, and cafes.
