A Children’s Guide To Choosing Helpful Words, Not Hurtful Ones!
Children often speak their minds, but sometimes their words can affect others. With her trademark mix of empathy and encouragement, author Elizabeth Verdick gently guides readers to choose words that are helpful instead of hurtful, and to say two very important words―“I’m sorry”―when hurtful words come out before they can stop them.
- Promotes Healthy Communication Skills:Words Are Not For Hurting helps young children understand how their words affect friends, family members, and classmates. Readers are encouraged to pause, choose respectful language, and make things right when mistakes happen.
- Learning to Say “I’m Sorry”: Using simple words and relatable situations, this children’s book helps toddlers understand that hurtful words can cause real emotional pain and encourages them to think about how their language makes others feel. This book shows how saying “I’m sorry” can help repair hurt feelings and strengthen friendships.
- Includes Helpful Tips for Parents & Caregivers: Active suggestions and social emotional learning activties are included in the back of the book to encourage the daily use of empathy, kindness, and respectful language.
Best Behavior® Series: Kids, parents, and educators love the award-winning book series that teaches children ages 1–4 important life skills in fun, relatable ways. From managing emotions to manners for kids, each book in the series uses simple words and relatable illustrations that encourage positive behaviors. Bilingual board books are available for select titles.
