Mrs. Eddy, when she lived, was not noted for the modesty of her claims. She did not hesitate to pronounce all of our real science false, our phil osophies absurd, our Churches material, unspirit ual and unhelping.
Her disciples, accordingly, need not wonder if the champions of the Churches and the faith con fessed by them, handle with some vigor her absurd claims to be both Christian and scientific.
An examination of what my esteemed student and brother, the author, sends forth in this timely treatise, leads me to feel assured that in his time and place he has vigorously reaffirmed an old warning which has the sanction of a great teacher, Keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoid ing profane and vain babblings and oppositions of science, falsely so-called, which some professing have erred concerning the faith.
