One Missing. One Remains. A small town, cold case psychological suspense novel that will stay with you long after the final page.
A ten-year-old girl vanishes on her walk home.
No witnesses. No answers. No closure.
A decade later, something surfaces.
A connection no one saw coming.
A truth someone has worked very hard to keep buried.
In 2003, ten-year-old Hattie Monetti vanished on her walk home from school in the quiet New South Wales town of Hartford. She was never seen again.
Despite an extensive investigation, the case went cold, leaving a town haunted by unanswered questions and a family shattered by loss.
Ten years later, new evidence emerges that may link Hattie’s disappearance to two other missing children from a neighbouring town. As police reopen the investigation, long-buried secrets begin to surface, and suspicion falls on those closest to home.
For Hattie’s older sister Anna, the nightmare never ended. While the town tried to move on, she was left to live in the shadow of the day her sister disappeared.
Now the past is returning, and someone in Hartford knows the truth about what happened to Hattie Monetti.
Told from the perspective of the sister who was left behind, and a police officer with everything to lose, this haunting psychological suspense novel explores grief, memory and the secrets a small town will do anything to keep hidden. G.K. Woolf’s twisty novel is a striking and atmospheric entry into the psychological thriller space.
PRAISE FOR G.K. WOOLF
'It's been a long time since I gave a book 5 stars!! The storyline and characters were fantastic! I kept thinking I had it figured out and then a new twist would hit! I highly recommend reading this book!! Excited to see what other books this author comes out with and really hope there is a 2nd book because that ending...mindblown and I need more!!' Jessica R. for Booksprout - five-star review
....'The story's relentless twists kept me guessing, giving me total whiplash as suspicion shifted from one person to the next. The dual perspectives of Anna and Jacob were brilliantly handled: Jacob wasn't particularly likeable, but his character served a deliberate purpose, and my heart ached deeply for Anna's shattered parents. Anna's fierce refusal to give up the search drives the story forward, building to a stunning cliffhanger ending I did not see coming. I'm completely hooked and desperately hoping for a sequel!' @dianeelizabethtaylor Goodreads and Instagram
'....Wow, what a story. This book really got under my skin. What I loved most were the characters. They felt real - flawed, emotional, and carrying their own baggage. I especially liked the way the relationships between them developed and how the past continued to affect their lives. You really start to care about what happens to them. The mystery kept me guessing, and I loved that feeling of knowing there was more going on without being able to quite figure it out. There were moments when I thought I had worked it out… and then I changed my mind again!' @the.evening.library (Instagram)
'Thank you, gkwoolfauthor. This was so well done! The emotional turmoil is palpable throughout the book, and for me it continued to increase in presence throughout the entire read....' @rjmichanauthor (Instagram)
'Still Here is an eery mystery that will unnerve you! It was hard to put down! Anna and Jacob were real and flawed. I loved when they would interact! The writing was excellent and the story was so well- paced that it felt like I raced through it. Reveals were frequent and very unexpected. It was one of the most enjoyable thrillers I’ve read!
