Hardback, oblong 8vo. (10.5 x 8.5 inches) Purple cloth spine. Illustrated paper covered boards. Patterned endpapers. In good condition. Cover darkened, corners bumped and chipped, bump to top front edge. Endpapers darkened on free sides. No inscriptions but some pencil scribbles to pages, rear endpaper, and pink pencil to last 2 pages. Soem handling marks and soiling. Else a tight copy. No Jacket. hardback, rectangular format measuring 8 1/2" x 10 1/2", plum cloth backstrip, pictorial paper covered boards, patterned endpapers, some soiling to the boards, which are now protected in a non-adhesive clear film sleeve, the binding remains tight, some browning to the free endpapers and one or two minor spots toward the edge of the first leaves. Brief gift inscription to 'Lynn Elizabeth Ingamells from her parents, Christmas 1938'. This was the then three year old future British Hispanist authority, and her mother who inscribed was the watercolourist, Kathleen Rollett. Illustrated throughout by Clare Leighton in single colours.
