[ ABOUT THE BOOK ] The Women's Warpath: Iban Ritual Fabrics from Borneo Book by Traude Gavin | The Women's Warpath concerns Iban ritual fabrics from Borneo. It is the third publication in a series developed by the UCLA Fowler Museum of Cultural History to focus on the textile traditions of Southeast Asia. The series draws on the museum's collection of nearly one thousand Southeast Asian textiles and accompanies exhibitions with publications by scholars in the field. | The foreword places the book alongside earlier projects in the series: To Speak With Cloth: Indonesian Textiles, published in 1989, and Gift of the Cotton Maiden: Textiles of Flores and the Solor Islands, presented in 1994. It also notes a planned subsequent project on ceremonial dress of the Minangkabau. The book's subject is identified specifically as Iban ritual fabrics, situating it within the museum's wider programme of exhibitions and publications on Southeast Asian textiles. (LL).…
