This collection of 20th-century feminist writings attempts to re-think the ideas and traditions of male-dominated Western religion. It provides an overview of contemporary feminist thinking on religion and should appeal to anyone interested in the feminist perspective.
Review: Christ and Plaskow's collection of essays is one of the most important texts in the field of Religious Studies as well as being highly significant for feminism. The impact and effect of feminism on the traditional religions is one of the themes of this book, and the variety of topics covered by the essays demonstrates effectively how significant and wide-ranging this issue is. The book also deals with the rising interest in Goddess worship and Goddess traditions - a trend which continues today. It is several years since I first read this book as part of my Religious Studies degree course, and I have reread many of the essays several times since. There is something of value to be found in this book for everyone and anyone, and I recommend that anyone interested in religious studies, feminism or spirituality should read this at least once - it may not change your life, but it may change your mind. --http://www.amazon.co.uk/Womanspirit-Rising-Carol-P-Christ/dp/0060613777/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1301516496&sr=1-1
