About this Item
"This 5.50 x 7.75 inch, 224 page hardcover book is the first American edition of this title as indicated by the 1912 date on the title page. This title had first appeared in Europe in 1909 and this is the first American edition by G.P. Putnam's Sons in 1912. This copy is in very good condition with only a touch of shelf wear at the corners, some modest spotting to the front cover panel, a white line mark on the rear cover panel, and with a strip of blemish to the spine itself. The gilt lettering on the front cover and spine are bright but the blemish on the spine obscures the letter 'T' in the word "Movement." The interior text block is in near fine condition with no damage or markings to note. The page corners are sharp. There are a few penciled notations on the rear pastedown. The subject of this book is of interest today in tracing the evolution of the political, social, and spiritual place of women in western culture. The author considers the position of a woman's standing as a single woman, a young daughter, about men and women together, and the place as a mother. Through this book we can see that the place of women has changed enormously. 224 pages.". Seller Inventory # 1505-661
