"A Woman of India" is a poignant and illuminating biography of Saroj Nalini Dutt, a pioneering social reformer whose life and work left an indelible mark on the landscape of early 20th-century Bengal. Written by her husband, G. S. Dutt, the narrative offers an intimate look at a woman dedicated to the upliftment of her fellow countrywomen during a transformative period in Indian history.

The book chronicles Saroj Nalini's tireless efforts to establish the Mahila Samiti movement, a series of women's institutes designed to foster education, health, and economic independence. Through detailed accounts of her travels across rural and urban Bengal, the work illustrates the challenges faced by women in colonial India and the courage required to advocate for systemic change.

More than just a personal tribute, "A Woman of India" serves as an important historical document of the burgeoning women's movement in South Asia. It captures the essence of a visionary leader who balanced traditional values with a modern commitment to social justice. This compelling biography remains an essential read for those interested in the history of Indian feminism, social reform, and the power of individual agency in driving collective progress.
