A Note from the Author
A few readers have wondered whether a story about a friendly wolf might give young children the idea that wild animals are safe to approach.
That isn’t the lesson I intend.
The wolf in this story is a fictional character. Although he is friendly and hungry for spaghetti, children should never assume that a wild animal is safe to approach. Always treat wild animals with caution and respect.
My stories are meant to be shared between children and the adults who read them. They offer parents and grandparents a chance to enjoy the adventure with their children and, when appropriate, talk about the difference between the imaginary world of a story and the real world around us.
In the Hungry Wolf Adventures, the wolf may be friendly—but real wild animals should always be given their space.
Sincerely,
Jay B. Greene
