Approximately four years ago (in 2010), I saw the most unbelievable happening. My adorable Yorkshire Terrier named Wizzie saved a drowning kitten from my family’s pool in San Diego. It was an astonishing act of bravery for this 6½ lb. bundle of fur. If you know anything about a Yorkie, they’re fearless and have a big dog’s demeanor. Being a writer, I knew I had a story to tell. However, I wasn’t a children’s picture book writer. When I spoke to my friend Lynne Berger about it, she thought it would make a great story and we should write it. Lynne is a very talented children’s book writer whom I have grown to respect. We wrote the story together, but it kept getting postponed due to our health issues. In the summer of 2014 Lynne and I decided to move on with the Wizzie project. We would like to introduce you to ‘Wizzie’, my very own wonder dog. I think this story will reinstate your belief in courage and heroism. Please feel free to ask us any questions about Wizzie or our plans for this wondrous series. We would welcome your inputs and encouragement. Raman B. is an excellent illustrator, who made Wizzie come alive on paper for your children and grandchildren alike. Our editor Jagdeep Sambey believes that a children’s book should not just entertain, but instruct and educate also. There is a time to develop a child’s passion for reading and the time is NOW! We’re proud to bring you this amazing story.
About the Author: Trish Silver attended the University of Cincinnati’s School of Journalism, where a semantics teacher encouraged her to pursue writing. Around the same time, she realized she wanted to become a wife and mother. “Wizzie the Wonder Dog Saves the Day,” is the first in a series of children’s picture book series. Silver, along with her partner, Lynne Berger, are working on their sequel of the Wizzie’s series. Ms. silver is an animal activist and does not believe in animal testing. ---------------------------- Lynne Berger Lynne Berger is a children's book writer. She has worked as a journalist, writer, and a newspaper editor. Later she achieved her life-long dream of creating with her husband Phillip, “The Enchanted Forest Children's Theater and Creative Arts Learning Center," located in Los Angeles, California. Children as young as 18 months of age used costumes, props and sets to act out fairy tales and super hero stories to encourage their inherent creativity. Later, Lynne's innovative programs were taken by twenty-seven teachers to after school classes in the arts throughout the city. They were also used in summer camps and hospital programs as well.
