Hardback in Near Fine condition. Not Inscribed. 126 Pages with illustrations by Maxwell Armfield. Many of Shakespeare's plays were first published individually in Quarto editions that were later collected and published in Folio editions. But the only source for The Winter's Tale is the First Folio edition of 1623, the earliest collection of all his plays. It is this edition, the nearest possible approximation to what Shakespeare actually wrote, that is reprinted in this book. To avoid distraction, however, the spelling has been modernized. The punctuation, which follows the Elizabethan style of the original, is, therefore, often indicative of the way in which the lines are to be spoken. Please note the cover of this book is not the same as the stock image.
