Written and compiled by Jack Potter, the inaugural head coach of the Australian Cricket Academy, and Ashley Mote, winner of the Cricket Society Literary Award in 1997 for The Glory Days of Cricket, and with a foreword by Shane Warne, The Winning Edge is no ordinary cricket coaching book.
This book is not about playing shots, or bowling a length. Instead, it provides a unique insight into the methods employed by Jack Potter in the late 1980s and early 90s at the Australian Cricket Academy, which turned a floundering international cricket nation into the world beaters they are today.
Accompanying the book is a free CD-rom, which includes several charts which can be reproduced and stored on a computer to help analyse and monitor a player's performances. It also includes unique video footage from the early days of the Academy, featuring Shane Warne, Justin Langer and Craig White.
The Winning Edge is a must for coaches, and for players of all ages and abilities who want to improve their game. Cricket enthusiasts, too, will find this a fascinating book.

About the Author
He was the inaugural head coach at the now world-famous Australian Cricket Academy in Adelaide, developed all its programmes and resources, and was responsible for the general management of the Academy's staff and courses over its first three years.
During that time he introduced many new and revolutionary inter-active coaching techniques and scientific concepts into the development of potential test cricketers. His radical methods still dominate Australian cricket today and have been copied around the world.
Jack Potter played first-class cricket for Victoria from 1956 to 1968, and toured England with Bobby Simpson's team in 1964. A serious head injury cut short his tour and he is widely regarded as the unluckiest Australian never to play test cricket.
Victoria won the Sheffield Shield in his first year as captain (1967) and he is one of a rare handful of Australian state captains who have led their side to the Sheffield Shield and their district side to the Premiership Pennant in the same year.
After retiring from the first-class game Jack Potter went to the United States to take a masters degree in sports science. He has a particular interest in the psychology of sporting success, and originated many techniques to develop higher levels of player achievement.
In recent years he has regularly coached in both Australia and England.
Ashley Mote is a sports writer, businessman, author and broadcaster. His book, The Glory Days of Cricket, won the Cricket Society's Literary Award for the best book of 1997. He also discovered the original manuscript of John Nyren's masterpiece The Cricketers of My Time. President of the Hambledon Dining Club, which was revived in 1998 after 202 years, and an active member of numerous cricket clubs, Ashley Mote has a particular interest in seeing cricket thrive wherever it is played.
