1927 Hardcover. Illustrated by Nancy Barnhart with 8 bright full-page, full-color illustration plates, including a tissue-protected frontispiece, and 4 full-page black and white drawings. Bound in bright blue cloth with gilt lettering on cover and spine; stamped black illustration of a mouse reading under a tree on front board and spine. A bit of rubbing wear to head and heel of spine and a dark smudge angling across the lower spine. Pale green illustrated endpapers. Christmas gift inscription to child on first free endpaper dated 1927. Deckled page edges. Pages are ivoried, clean and unmarked. Strong binding. Children's classic in beautiful condition. Operating through a retail outlet located at 200 Maine St. in Brunswick and through its on-line sales activities, Curtis Friends operates only with volunteers from the local community and sells only those books donated by its constituents. Curtis Friends has been in existence for several decades.
