Item description from seller

First Berkeley Medallion Edition (F600), January 1962. Vintage paperback issue of J. G. Ballard's debut novel. Covers show rubbing, creasing and edge wear, with a small price sticker to the front cover. Spine rubbed with a horizontal crease and light wear to the ends. Rear cover scratched and rubbed. Original red page-edge stain remains present. Glue visible at the front inner hinge and the binding feels somewhat fragile, though all pages remain attached. Pages toned with age and some small chipping to the first few pages. There is also a small water mark on the edge of the first few leaves. The original red page-edge stain remains bright and attractive. Text block remains complete and readable. An early collectible paperback edition of Ballard's first novel, a global catastrophe narrative in which an ever-increasing windstorm devastates civilisation. An important early work by one of the most influential writers in twentieth-century speculative fiction.
