Item description from seller

A charming trio of books from Collins' 'Britain in Pictures' series, each complete with the original dust wrapper. Three volumes from this popular 'Britain in Pictures' series. From the library of M. G. Jackson, with their ownership impression to the dust wrappers, half titles and front paste downs. Likely a relative of Holbrook Jackson, a British journalist, writer and leading bibliophile of his time. The series served as pictorial social history published mainly during the Second World War, designed to boost morale by celebrating all aspects of British life.Illustrated throughout in colour and black-and-white after works from various prominent artists, including Hogarth, Cruikshank and Millais. Each volume complete with the publisher's original unclipped dust wrapper.Containing the following titles:English Inns (1947) by Thomas Burke - Fourth impression. Eight plates in colour and twenty-four illustrations in black and white.English Rivers and Canals (1945) by Frank Eyre and Charles Hadfield - First edition, first impression. Eight plates in colour and nineteen illustrations in black and white.Wildlife of Britain (1943) by F. Fraser Darling - Second impression. Eight plates in colour and twenty-nine illustrations in black and white. In the original paper covered boards. With the original unclipped dust wrappers. Externally, very smart, with really only rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Dust wrappers are slightly sunned to the spines, with more notable edge wear and rubbing. A couple minor closed tears to the wraps' edges. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with light scattered spotting to the endpapers. Very Good.
