About the Author: Barbara Conrad is the author of a chapbook, The Gravity of Color (2007) and editor of Waiting for Soup (2004), an anthology of poems and stories from her creative writing class with the homeless in Charlotte, NC. Her poems have appeared in Tar River Poetry, Southern Women's Review, Sow's Ear, and other journals and anthologies such as ...and love, Icarus and Kakalak where her work received honorable mentions. In 2009 she was nominated for a Pushcart prize. She lives in Charlotte where she continues to work with the homeless, plays West African drums and supports environmental sustainability efforts.
