Examining the pictorial, literary, and musical world that Wilco conjure up on record and on stage this book is created in collaboration with Jeff Tweedy, Wilco and Tony Margherita. Primarily visual, The Wilco Book shows what Wilco does, how they do it and where it all comes together. The band narrates the book in the form of long captions accompanying the images. Just as the band assembles its disparate talents, this book coheres in the end to reveal a 40 minute CD of original, unreleased songs. This truly is a translation of the band's sensibility from sound into print.
Synopsis: Acclaimed as one of America's best and most literate bands, Wilco have continually sought to explore fresh musical and emotional territory, relentlessly redefining themselves and their body of work. 2002's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot - along with its documentary film companion, I Am Trying to Break Your Heart - saw the Chicago-based band reaping the greatest commercial and critical success of their nearly 10-year career. This beautiful full-colour picture book was made in collaboration with the visual-culture studio, PictureBox, Inc. Composed of award-winning design and editing team Peter Buchanan-Smith and Dan Nadel, PictureBox worked closely with Wilco for two years to create a visual equivalent of the band's music.
