Print on Demand. This book is an entertaining tale of an eccentric General who, after returning from war, decides to visit his family's ancestral home, which he left 10 years ago. The General holds a great deal of affection for his family and arrives full of hope and expectation only to find that his sister, who is the current ruler of the home, has turned it into her own personal domain. She has chosen to ignore the General's brother, the previous master of the home, after his passing and also disregards the wishes of the General's niece, Flora, regarding the inheritance left to her by her late husband. Flora is a beautiful and spirited young widow and the General feels very protectively towards her. Charged with the responsibility of Flora's well-being, the General decides to intervene in order to protect her from his sister and the constraints of her inheritance. Along the way, he uncovers a series of unexpected events and encounters many unforgettable characters. The book is a fascinating exploration of the themes of love, family, duty and sacrifice, and explores the ways in which these concepts can intersect and conflict with one another. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

As to behold unmoved the dreadful carnage he had been witness to; nor to consider with apathy on the fate of his brave associates, who had fallen in the battle's.
