A heartfelt teacher appreciation gift for ages 4–7―perfect for storytime, graduation, or anytime a “thank you” matters most.
Why We Need Teachers is a touching read-aloud picture book that celebrates the educators who shape our lives with patience, wisdom, and heart. Written by Gregory E. Lang, author of the New York Times bestselling Why a Daughter Needs a Dad, this beautifully illustrated story uses gentle rhymes and adorable animal characters to honor the role of teachers in guiding young minds.
This book makes a meaningful gift for Teacher Appreciation Week, the last day of school, or back-to-school season. Its poetic lines help children express gratitude and understand the emotional power of mentorship in a way that feels warm, reassuring, and age-appropriate. The story encourages empathy and respect while offering a simple but powerful way for kids to say, “I see you. I’m grateful.”
Whether given by students, parents, or entire classrooms, this book’s universal themes and charming visuals make it a lasting keepsake. It’s equally at home in a teacher’s classroom library or a child’s bedtime rotation, sparking conversations about learning, kindness, and the impact of everyday heroes.
Part of the Always in My Heart series, Why We Need Teachers is a moving tribute that pairs beautifully with Gregory E. Lang’s other works, including Why the World Needs Love and Why a Son Needs a Mom.
