Ania Lichota was raised in Poland during the communist era. In her childhood she used to sell tomatoes and other family farm produce in a market. She later worked as an accountant in her father's shipping business, and by the age of eighteen she had set up her own metals trading and small appliances import company.
In 1996 Ania left Poland to study at the London School of Economics. She currently holds four degrees: MSc in Management and Marketing, Social and Organizational Psychology; MBA and PhD in International Management via distance learning in the US. As a citizen of Eastern Europe, Ania could not hold a passport until she was aged eight, but since then her passion for travelling has taken her to sixty countries around the world.
A business management professional, Ania has lived and worked in Poland, Estonia, Russia, Germany, Romania, Italy, France, Czech Republic, the Netherlands, US, Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and the United Kingdom, where she currently works as a global change program manager in an investment bank. She speaks four languages.
More recently she has attained a licence in neuro-linguistic programming and has gained experience as a life and executive coach. Ania accepts public speaking engagements on topics including leadership and personal development.
As an adjunct to her outdoor pursuits and life in London, Ania has become an active supporter of charities, raising money for UNICEF and, more recently, for a project to build a school in a remote village in Nepal. She has served as a trustee on the board of the Attlee Foundation in London and currently chairs a large charity for the Polish community in London.
Ania's mountaineering career started as a hobby in her youth. It became a more serious pursuit in 2006 when she set her sight on the Seven Summits -- to climb the highest peak on each of the world's seven continents. She completed the challenge in May 2010 after reaching the summit of Mt. Everest.
She has won awards for climbing and charitable efforts, and has been named Woman of the Year by the Polish press in London.
