Add to basketEmma Hartley's perfect life shatters the moment she finds the encrypted file on her husband's laptop. A file that shouldn't exist. A file labeled "The Whitby Protocol."
But when she confronts David about it, he looks at her with such genuine confusion that she almost believes him. Almost. He insists there is no file. No protocol. No secret. Just Emma's "overactive imagination" working overtime again.
Then the messages start appearing on her phone-messages she has no memory of sending. Appointments she's certain she never made show up in her calendar. Her sister swears Emma called her at 3 a.m., ranting incoherently, but Emma was asleep. Wasn't she?
As a research psychologist specializing in memory disorders, Emma knows the signs of cognitive decline. She's studied them for years. And now, terrifyingly, she's exhibiting every single one. Her colleagues exchange worried glances. Her mother gently suggests "talking to someone." Even her best friend asks if she's been under too much stress.
But Emma knows what she saw. The Whitby Protocol is real. It has to be.
Desperate for proof, she returns to David's laptop, only to find it's been wiped clean. The file is gone. When she accuses him, David's patience finally cracks. With tears in his eyes, he shows her the psychiatrist's card he's been carrying, begging her to get help before she hurts herself. Before their marriage crumbles completely.
Maybe everyone's right. Maybe she is losing her grip on reality.
But then Emma discovers she's not the first Mrs. Hartley. David's previous wife, Rachel, died in a psychiatric facility after a sudden and complete mental breakdown. The official story? Acute paranoid delusions. She kept insisting her husband was conducting some kind of experiment on her. That there was a protocol.
She called it Whitby.
Now Emma must race against her own disintegrating sense of reality to uncover the truth. Is she the victim of a dark, twisted conspiracy-or is her mind truly betraying her? Every memory is suspect. Every perception is questionable. And the one person who keeps insisting he loves her might be the very person destroying her from the inside out.
★★★ Three jaw-dropping reasons you'll devour this unputdownable psychological thriller in one sitting:
• HAUNTING AUTHENTICITY: Written with chilling psychological precision, every gaslighting technique will have you questioning what's real alongside Emma in this addictive page-turner you won't see coming
• DARK DOMESTIC SUSPENSE: A gripping exploration of how the person who shares your bed could be your worst nightmare-this twisted tale transforms your safe home into a prison of doubt
• SHOCKING TWIST ENDING: Just when you think you've figured it out, Claire Northam delivers a final revelation so explosive it will haunt you long after you've turned the last page
If you're searching for a dark, atmospheric thriller that combines the paranoia of The Woman in the Window with the sinister manipulation of Behind Closed Doors, The Whitby Protocol will keep you reading all night.
Perfect for fans of psychological mind-games, unreliable narrators, and twist endings that leave you breathless.
Scroll up and one-click now-but don't blame us when you can't stop turning pages until the haunting final line. Emma's nightmare is waiting, and you won't believe where it leads.
