An original Roycroft Press "Little Journeys" biography of James Abbott McNeill Whistler, the American-born painter and etcher famed for "Whistler's Mother" and his combative wit — a subject with strong crossover appeal to Whistler and Aesthetic Movement collectors beyond the usual Roycroft/Arts & Crafts audience. Gilt corded binding. Issue No 6 of Volume XI of series. First and last leaves uncut. Yapped-style covers a little bumped as would be expected for a soft cover volume of this age. Hinge bottom a bit rubbed. Page 137 has a small tear (1/4") at bottom of leaf. Else tight, clean and unmarked.
