Step into Willow Creek, where the scent of cinnamon hides a chilling secret.
Elara Finch, a talented baker with a knack for exquisite pastries, believes her biggest challenge is perfecting her sourdough. But in the quaint British village of Willow Creek, surrounded by ancient, whispering pines, Elara harbors a secret of her own: a unique sensitivity to the land's hidden 'echoes' and forgotten magic. A gift she's long dismissed as mere imagination.
Until Dr. Alistair Thorne, the village's eccentric folklore expert, is found dead at the ancient Sentinel Stones—a place steeped in local legend. The police rule it an accident, but the ancient pines begin to whisper a different story to Elara, a tale of anger, betrayal, and a violent push.
Drawn into the mystery, Elara uncovers Dr. Thorne's hidden journal, exposing centuries-old secrets about Willow Creek's founding family, the powerful Blackwoods, and their dubious claim to the valley. As she delves deeper, aided by the perceptive teenager Leo and her wise, cat-loving neighbour Mrs. Higgins, Elara’s mystical senses sharpen, revealing fragmented visions of the past and the chilling truth of Thorne’s demise.
But someone in Willow Creek is determined to keep the truth buried, even at the cost of another life. As the Summer Solstice dawns, Elara finds herself caught in a dangerous game of cat and mouse, racing against time to expose a cunning killer and an ancient deception before Willow Creek's deep-rooted secrets consume them all.
"The Whispering Pines" is a delightful cozy mystery steeped in British charm, heartwarming characters, and a touch of enchanting magical realism that will keep you guessing until the very last page.
