Review

Where the Water Rages will keep you reading beyond where you thought you would stop. In her own personal, passionate language, Jacquelyn Sill combines a universal spirituality with gritty realism. In the end, triumphant heroism will win your heart. -Bruce Gevirtzman Professor, California State University, Fullerton, California Author, An Intimate Understanding of Teenagers-Shaking Hands with Aliens, Straight Talk to Teachers, and Audacious Cures for America's Ailing Schools Where the Water Rages is a beautifully written novel, taking the reader through the full spectrum of emotions. Each main character pulls you in like a magnet. You are immediately immersed in the mind of the child and her plight, begging for her to be rescued, feeling all that she feels. There are moments of high suspense, where you find yourself reading at lightning speed to see what will unfold, and moments where your heart feels strangled for all that is lost. There are moments of hope, miracles, and restoration as well as unexpected humor where you need it most to cut through thick tension. It is an honor to read and recommend this novel to readers. -Christina Armentrout Children's Director & Educator, Central Christian Church, Lancaster, California From the very first pages, I was drawn into the stories of Noi, Kimly, and Dak. Where the Water Rages has that "can't put it down" quality that marks every great book. From the romance and adventure to the eye opening and real look into the thriving sex trade in Southeast Asia, Jacquelyn Sill manages to provide deep insight to a relevant issue plaguing our world today, all the while speaking deep biblical truth about God's unrelenting pursuit of each one of us. -Charlene Heydorn Redeeming Love Founder and CEO. Redeeming Love provides a home and resources for survivors of sex trafficking in the U.S. Where the Water Rages is both entertaining and thought-provoking. Jacquelyn Sill does an amazing job of weaving together a story that keeps you wanting more while at the same time opening the eyes of her readers to the tragedy of human-trafficking around the world. It is a story of hope, courage, and redemption. Whether held captive by a literal slave trader or the painful memory of a past mistake, there is freedom for those who have courage to face their captors head-on. -Jennifer Aufrecht Staff Member at Christ's Church of the Valley, San Dimas, California Jacquelyn Sill is a bright new talent who peers deeply into the human soul. Her work brings to life a dark corner of existence and deepens our understanding of the horrors of human trafficking. She does not shy away from the nuances of attraction, love and grief and her complex characters are drawn with profound depth, understanding and compassion. Where the Water Rages is a universal story that renders exquisitely all of the moments and decisions that make up our quest as we figure out who we are and where we are going. -Tehila Lieberman Editor, THL Final Copy Author, Venus in the Afternoon, Winner of the Katherine Anne Porter Prize in Short Fiction.
