The format is approximately 5.5 inches and 9.5 inches. 560 pages. Illustrations. No DJ present. Cover has minor soiling. Minor endpaper discoloration. Where Are They Buried? has directed legions of fervent fans and multitudes of the morbidly curious to the graves, monuments, and tombstones of the more than 500 celebrities and antiheroes included in the book. The most comprehensive guide on the subject by far, every entry features an entertaining capsule biography full of little-known facts, a detailed description of the death, and step-by-step directions to the grave, including not only the name of the cemetery but the exact location of the gravesite and how to reach it. The book also provides a handy index of grave locations organized by state, province, and country to make planning a grave-hopping road trip easy and efficient. The information is grouped as Gen-X Standouts; Baby Boomer Icons; Senior Memories; Sports Heroes; Television & Film Personalities; Original Women; Greats of Literature, Philosophy, & the Arts; Heroes of Rock & Blues Music; Popular Music Icons; Famous Personalties & Infamous Newsmakers; Notable Figures from History; Appendix: How to Find Where Someone Is Buried. Tod Benoit was incarcerated in Corporate America for ten years after earning his engineering degree in 1987. Disturbed his biography could mirror Ivan Ilych's as told by Tolstoy, he split the scene in 1997 to pursue decades of assorted adventures from Patagonia to Nova Scotia, from British Columbia to New Zealand. This enlightening and browsable guide features more than 500 profiles of the lives, deaths, and final resting places of our most influential figures from sports, music, film, television, literature, and politics. This unparalleled compilation of profiles of the deceased--from Abbott & Costello to Ethel and Julius Rosenberg, from Arthur Ashe to Andy Warhol--offers all of the pertinent details on their lives, deaths, and grave sites, providing a pop-cultural road map for anyone fascinated by celebrity, history, and travel. Listings include Mark Twain, Sonny Bono, Dr. Seuss, Salvador Dali, Mickey Mantle, Marvin Gaye, Jimi Hendrix, Ingrid Bergman, William Shakespeare, Andy Kaufman, Bob Crane, Louis Armstrong, Walt Disney, Errol Flynn, Al Capone, Ella Fitzgerald, Mae West, Gertude Stein, and hundreds more. Fifty photos and a number of informative sidebars (on such topics as how to find the grave of anyone you choose) round out this entertaining look at the permanent addresses of our most significant late citizens. And each listing offers concise directions to both the cemetery and the grave itself, an added benefit for tombstone travelers.…
