Ren has found peace.
On the hidden island of Laulea, where bells hum with the soil and lanterns glow against salt air, he is learning to build a life rooted in care instead of power. The gardens are growing. The village is thriving. For the first time, he is beginning to feel steady.
Then the past arrives.
Sir Caedric Valehart, Justiciar Knight of the Astral Court, has come with a single purpose, to bring the Severant back and finish what was left undone. He expects resistance. He does not expect an island that listens, a village that welcomes him, or the quiet, disarming kindness of a baker who sees him not as a weapon, but as a man.
But Laulea is not a place for old certainties.
As Caedric begins to question the life he has always known, Ren finds himself guiding another through the same difficult truth, that laying down power is only the beginning. Learning how to live without it, how to choose peace again and again, is something else entirely.
And as new bonds take root and unexpected loves begin to bloom, both men must decide what they are willing to carry, and what they are finally ready to set down.
On an island that appears only when it is needed, even the past can be invited to rest.
When the West Wind Wakes is the second book of The Island of Laulea Cozy Fantasy Series. Each book can be read as a standalone, but the journey deepens when read in order.
Perfect for readers who love:

• Slow-bloom romance
• Gentle, healing fantasy
