When the Trees Let Go: A Gentle Story About Letting Go of Worries and Finding Hope
From award-winning children's author and illustrator Wendy Pine comes a beautifully illustrated story about emotional healing, resilience, self-discovery, and learning to let go of the worries we carry.
On a quiet autumn morning, Emma walks through the forest with her grandmother beneath a canopy of golden leaves. The air feels different. Cooler. Quieter. Softer somehow. As they wander along winding woodland paths painted in shades of gold, amber, and deep red, Emma notices something she has never truly considered before.
The trees are letting go.
One leaf drifts softly to the ground.
Then another.
And another.
Curious, Emma asks a simple question:
Why do trees let go of their leaves?
What follows is a gentle conversation that helps Emma understand an important truth. Trees know they do not have to carry everything forever. They trust the seasons. They trust that spring will come again. They trust that new growth will follow.
And perhaps people can learn to do the same.
As Emma reflects on the worries, fears, and feelings she has been quietly carrying in her heart, she begins to discover that letting go is not the same as losing something. Sometimes letting go creates space for healing, hope, and new beginnings.
Filled with warm watercolor illustrations, comforting autumn scenery, and timeless wisdom inspired by nature, When the Trees Let Go offers young readers a meaningful introduction to emotional awareness and emotional regulation. Through Emma's journey, children learn that difficult feelings are a natural part of life and that they do not have to carry every worry forever.
