Denise Barry must have a wireless connection to the child there is somewhere within all of us. Maybe it's her life-training as a sibling and a parent. Maybe it's something within her. But Denise is that unique adult who can reach into the crannies of the collective imagination and bring forth situations and images that are utterly entrancing to the child-mind. Her impish, unassuming verses dip and swish like the whimsical flight of her Tooth Fairy, drawing child-readers into their spell of rhythm. The bright, articulate, inviting illustrations of Andy Boerger are the perfect accompaniment. Innocent but contemporary, "What Does the Tooth Fairy Do with Our Teeth?" ought to be an ideal experience of sight, sound, and song for the ages for which it is intended. One senses that with her Tooth Fairy, Denise Barry is just beginning. Mason Winfield, author, researcher, supernatural historian
