How far away is home when you're only six years old?
What the Ocean Brought Me is Book Three in the Blue Bear Series, a heartfelt children's series inspired by the author's own childhood journey from India to America.
Life in her new world is beginning to feel more familiar, but some things are impossible to forget.
On the beautiful Oregon coast, a young girl stands beside the vast Pacific Ocean with Blue Bear close by. She looks toward the horizon and wonders about the home she left behind.
Could India be just over there?
Could the people she loves somehow see her from the other side?
As she explores the rocky shore, searches among the treasures the ocean leaves behind, and experiences the wonder of the coast, thoughts of India are never very far away.
And neither is Blue Bear.
Told through a child's eyes and inspired by real childhood memories, What the Ocean Brought Me is a tender story about wonder, longing, belonging, family, and the surprising ways a child makes sense of distance and home.
Beautifully illustrated and written for children ages 4–8, this third Blue Bear story invites readers to see the ocean—and the idea of home—through the eyes of a little girl whose world has become much bigger than she ever imagined.
